Spalted Maple Bowl # 236 | Michael Offutt
Michael Offut (Mountain Spirit Woodworking) works predominantly with hardwoods that have been victims of recent storms or old age on or near his 200 acre farm. He'll cut a workable block with a chain saw so that he can turn on a lathe. He finds that the more knots and spalted (marks of decay when the tree was a live, offering rich, black marks to the wood) areas that the raw wood holds, the more character of the finished product will have.
11 1/4" diameter x 3 3/4" tall.
