At MountainMade, we believe our artist jury process sets us apart from other organizations. Our customers and our artists benefit from the artist jury process. MountainMade shoppers know they are getting very high quality, well made art from an organization that cares for its artists, and our artists receive valuable feedback and marketing resources.
MountainMade is gearing up for the first of 3 Jury Session in 2010. We will be working with our artist jurors on Monday, March 22, 2010 to review the works artists have submitted so far this year. We understand that submitting art to the MountainMade jury process is an emotional experience, but we also believe is personally and professional rewarding. That is why we commit the day to review and remark on the pieces submitted, making an effort to provide honest, insightful, and useful feedback to all participating artists.Creative people know the value of taking safe risks. Without creative exploration and critical feedback, no artist advances his or her skill. MountainMade offers just such safe risks in the form of our artists’ jury. The jury process offers valuable insight into how you might improve your art with the possibility of becoming a MountainMade artist. Our artists enjoy an abundance of benefits including product listing on our website and display at our retail spaces.
As a juried MountainMade artist, you will gain invaluable exposure and clout. MountainMade is a lighthouse for West Virginia artists and crafts people. MountainMade artists put their hearts and souls into creating the quality, hand-made products that we carry. Art enthusiasts know that MountainMade artists are creating beautiful, well made art that will last generations.
If you are a West Virginia artist interested in becoming an artist for MountainMade, please call us at 1-877-686-6233, ex.114 to request a jury application or download one from the MountainMade Artist Resource Page on our website. We ask for 3 examples of your work (you’re welcome to bring/send more because there is no limit), and welcome any photographs or portfolio that you may have. Based on your submissions, jurors look at the breadth and consistency of your work.
The results and comments (constructive comments are offered) will arrive by mail within a few days of the jury selection process. Officially, please allow for 2 weeks, but I can’t stand waiting myself, so you’ll likely get a letter from me within a matter of days. If you are accepted as a MountainMade artist, you’ll be hearing from the lovely Carrie Nestor in our inventory department.
Whether you’re a quilter, potter, woodworker, candle-maker, gourmand, etc. who’s already selling (and looking for another market), or just starting out as a professional artist needing a leg-up, we look forward to reviewing your work. Are you ready to submit your work to the MountainMade Jury?
