February welcomes back Donell McCoy. As we unpacked her work, we found that she has brought with her many new original watercolors. We expect that her work will appeal to our customers as she offers, in addition to her framed pieces, a number of well-priced prints and a broader selection of (frameable) cards.

Donell is a watercolorist who has been seriously involved in creating watercolor paintings for more than 25 years. Although originally inspired by her mother, she has continued her development through numerous workshops with nationally known artists: Joseph Bohler, Bill Vrscak, Betty Carr, and others.

We continue to delight how Donell’s use of color, shadows brings her subject(s) to light. Her sense of perspective, use of contrast and extreme attention to detail now result in her true style of realism. She shows beautifully in the Peacock Gallery and lends a warmth that all are sure to enjoy!

Donell is a juried member of the WV Watercolor Society, MountainMade (Thomas, WV) and the Highlands Artist Gallery (Davis, WV) and is a long-standing member of the Seneca Trail Artist’s Guild (WV), the Sedona (AZ) Art Center, and a former member of the Hilton Head (SC) Art League. She resides in Parsons, WV with her husband Ken.

Donell McCoy, a Parsons, West Virginia native, had her art interest piqued at a very early age by her Mother who was also an artist and teacher. She has been seriously involved in watercolors for more than 2 decades and has particular interests in still life and architectural structures which are the subjects of many of her paintings.
Her sense of perspective, use of contrast, and extreme attention to detail now result in a true style of realism. Much like many artists, she is constantly aware of her surroundings, is fascinated by the changing light around her, and captures many subjects for future paintings with her camera, which is rarely absent from her side.
She has studied with local artists Kay Gillispie and Lotus MacDowell, and continues to develop her style by taking workshops that have included Bill Vrscak, Joseph Bohler and Betty Carr.
Some of Donell’s images are framed and can also be found in small, matted pieces and note cards. Please contact the Gallery for more information.
