It’s Time For Some Barbecue!

It’s been a long winter, but the birds are singing, flowers are blooming and it is time to get that grill out and have some barbecues. The MountainMade Country Store and website have some delicious rubs and barbecue sauces for any taste buds. Impress your guests with our top five rubs and top five barbecue sauces.

Let’s start with our yummy rubs. Our first rub is Copper Creek Classic Wet Rub. Copper Creek rubs are a combination of the finest herbs and spices from around the world. Your limit is your imagination. With this wet rub you mix the rub with Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce to create a mouth-watering paste to put on your meat of choice.

Next Stop, Blenko Glass

Rich and Carrie recently took a whirlwind trip to meet with artists in Central and Southern West Virginia and made a stop at Blenko Glass in Milton.  What they brought back was an amazing sea of rich color and textures.

We are delighted to have 11 colors of Water Bottles and an array of bowls, vases and decanters! There is crackled glass, rich diamond cut pieces and floral and ribbed bowls.  And if you haven’t seen the pieces in Blazing Red yet, look out. These are sleek and sassy!

More amazing still is the affordability of these pieces. Bowls start at just $18 and vases at $25.  We were blown away. It is an amazing mix of traditional and contemporary.

And from this girl’s perspective it is a real treat to walk into the Gallery each morning and watch the light play on the amber, greens, blues, red and golds.  Affordable beauty anyone can appreciate.  They won’t last long …

Moving Day Means Print Artists Have New Space

We’ve had an exciting time preparing to move the etching/print press to the Studio Gallery from its former home above the Country Store. For three years the studios were located there, but just about a year ago the decision was made to ”bring the Studios home to the Gallery.”

If you’ve visited us in Thomas, you will agree that it is a beautiful building with an amazing history. (Built in 1900, it served as the company store for the Davis Coke & Coal Company for more than 50 years. It’s had a few other lives as well and we are honored to have been at home here for 10 years).

MountainMade promotes West Virginia arts and crafts from its location in the rich, natural beauty of the West Virginia Potomac Highlands. Visitors travel to our region to experience the year-round outdoor recreation surrounded by the Monongahela National Forest and near Dolly Sods and Canaan Valley.

We appreciate and work to protect our environment. Our Thomas locations are in two historical structures that have been restored and/or renovated. Adaptive reuse of buildings saves the environmental costs of tearing old buildings down and disposing of the waste in a landfill. It also saves on the environmental costs of creating products for construction.

The MountainMade Country Store is located in the Peacock Building, on Thomas, WVs downtown mainstreet. The building was purchased by the Vandalia Heritage Foundation in 2002 and renovated to its current condition.
