Thomas, West Virginia, is ready to celebrate Mountaineer Days this Fourth of July weekend and MountainMade would love for you to visit! We just received our book order and we have a wonderful selection of field guides on hiking and travel, and birding and wildflowers to enhance your visit to the region.
Thomas hosts Mountaineer Days on July 1-3, 2011. It is a celebration of our nation’s independence and a time for many of the local families to “come home.”
The historic downtown and rail-trail will be a buzz with crafts, games and food booths. You can also expect live music. M&M Bank Lot will feature Karaoke Friday night and live music on Saturday.
Saturday is an exciting day for kids of all ages with the parade in the morning, the Fireman’s Water Battle in the afternoon, an evening with Elvis and the fireworks display.
For one night each July, our dedicated, volunteer fire department puts on one of the region’s best show of fireworks. We recommend bringing a late-night picnic, spreading a blanket and gazing at the glorious colors! It promises to be a great evening in the mountains.
The fun doesn’t stop in Thomas. Slip down to Canaan Valley for the Annual Celebration of the Arts, including a Free Concert by the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra on Sunday and the Red, White and Blue Golf Scramble on Monday.
We promise there’s something for everyone.
